Did you ever ask yourself what is the value of faith in your life? What does really faith can do to you? Or does having faith in God make sense?

Well, to let you know, our faith plays an essential part in our lives.

It brings out our trust in God. Our God just wants us to take life easy and calmly through trusting Him. For we should know that His plans for us, is for our good and not to harm us (Jeremiah 29:11)

We will encounter many storms in life, we will be facing temptations that we need to overcome and we will encounter tragedies in different aspects of life that we don’t expect. But through it all, our faith in God is what we always need.

“For we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us” -Philippians 4:13

Before we proceed to the 5 things faith in God can do to us, let us first dig deeper into the meaning of faith and its importance.

Definition of Faith

Will you agree with me if I say, faith is an example of verb?

Yes! I said verb; an action word. So it means faith is an action word that we need to do. We need to take action on what we believe in. It is not just purely saying “I believe.”

In short, faith is about ‘showing‘ that you believe in God.

Importance of Faith

Faith is important because it is a command of God that we need to obey as it says in Hebrew 11:6, that pleasing God is possible if we have faith. We must believe that God exists and God will reward us if we will seek Him sincerely.

We have Jesus as the main character in our faith. As John 14:6 mentioned that Jesus is the only way, the only truth, and the only life. That without Jesus no one can come to the Father.

It is also important to know where our faith came from. Read Romans 10:17 as it says “Faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the good news about Christ.”

Now we already know what faith is and its importance, this time, let us determine the 5 things Faith in God can do to us.

1. Faith Can Save Us

Ephesians 2:8-9 is one scripture proof that through our faith, we can be saved. Are you a bit confused?

Ok let’s take the whole scripture.

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is a gift of God, not by works lest anyone should boast.”(NKJV)

Are we clear now? We are not saved just because we are good people. We are saved by the grace of God through our faith and it is not based on our accomplishments. It is not on the quantity of good deeds we do but it is our faith that saves us. In our faith that shows result.

2.Faith Opens Our Eyes in Truth

Read Acts 26:16-18

In this scripture, it is mentioned that by faith in Jesus, it can open our eyes so we can turn darkness to light (Acts 26:18). We all know that in this world, darkness is tempting all of us. The darkness that is founded by Satan which closes our eyes to the truth. The truth that comes from the light which is Jesus, as Jesus is the way to the Father in heaven.

If you are already enlightened by God’s Words, for sure you already have the faith that opens your eyes to the truth which Jesus has brought to us.

3.Faith Strengthens Us

As we walk through our journey in our Christian life, there may be times that life gets tough for us and it seems like you feel weary and weak that you think giving up could lessen the burden. But if you have the faith in God, you can trust His words and by remembering them, you are then strengthened and you will choose to go on living in God’s presence.

The following are verses that you may want to remember to be strengthened because it works for me.

  • Philippians 4:13
  • Romans 8: 38-39
  • Mark 11:22-24

4.Faith Gives Awareness

Our faith can give us God’s presence awareness. Do you get what I mean?

Let us take this scripture, 1 Corinthians 10:30 “Therefore, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

It means, if you have the faith in God, every move you make whether you jump, dance, sing, work and etc. you know whom you are dedicating those because you are aware that God is watching you.

Proverbs 15:3

“The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good”

It is also good that if you have children, build up in them the faith that they need, so they can be aware of the things that they do. Instill in them the faith and the Word of God. Make them believe that there is a God who is always watching their every move so they can always be careful of the decisions they will make in their lives.

5.Faith Gives Security

It is a great feeling knowing you are protected, isn’t it?

Don’t you know that there are many people out there who are victims of Facebook hacking? They cry because suddenly they cannot open anymore their Facebook account. One of my former students is a victim of Facebook hacking.

I remember my student asking me, “Ma’am, how can I retrieve my Facebook account? It is hacked. I don’t know who did it.” And I told him. “One way is you should take action to change your password at least once a month.”

It is the same with our faith, we should do an act to have a result and in that case, our salvation is secured. Securing our salvation is a very important thing for an individual. If Satan hacks our faith through his deceiving moves, we will be lost. So Faith in God gives security to our salvation.

And there we have it!

The 5 things that our faith can do to us. It is now time to ask yourself, “Do I have the faith that God wants me to have?”

Let me pray for you:

Father God, please do give this reader the faith that you want him to have. Lead him to the path that you prepared for him. Give him the wisdom to do the things you required him to do so he may feel your presence in his life. This is my prayer in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
